The practical test is straightforward and has been designed to see if you can
drive safely and
know the Highway Code.
The test will also include an
eyesight test, which if you fail, you will not be allowed to continue further with the test.
After the eyesight test you will be asked 2 'show me' / 'tell me' questions and then the practical test will begin. The test will include an assessment of your driving ability and include two 'manouvers'. You may also be asked to carry out the emergency stop exercise.
Throughout the test the examiner will give you directions which you need to follow. The test routes are designed to include a range of typical road and traffic conditions. At some points during the test the examiner will ask you to carry out set exercises.
Up to 15 minor errors are allowed and you can still pass the test. If you make 16 or more minor mistakes or 1 or more serious or dangerous mistakes you will fail the test. If at any time during your practical test your examiner considers you to be a danger to other road users, your test will be stopped immediately.
